ランブリング・レコーズ様からのご依頼で、
『バーバラと心の巨人』(17)のサントラ盤にライナーノーツを書かせて頂きました。
音楽は『レッドタートル ある島の物語』(16)のローラン・ペレス・デル・マール。
前回のブログでスコアについては大体ご紹介してしまったので、
今回は挿入歌について書かせて頂こうかなと思います。
本作のサントラ盤はローラン・ペレス・デル・マールのスコアだけでなく、
劇中で流れた挿入歌を２曲収録しております。
まずアルバム4曲目で登場するのが、
ロンドンの男女３人組バンド「ロンドン・グラマー」のUnder The Stars。
彼らは「If You Wait」(2013年)と「Truth is a Beautiful Thing」(2017年)の２枚のアルバムをリリースしていますが、
この曲はどちらのアルバムにも入っていないので、
おそらく未発表音源か、
あるいは本作のために書き下ろした曲なのではないかと思います。
歌詞の内容があまりにも映画とピッタリなので、
ワタクシ的には後者じゃないかなと思うのですが。

で、アルバムのラストを飾るのが、
デンマーク出身のシンガーソングライター、ラスマス・ウォルターの”Something So Strong”。
こちらはミュージック・ビデオ的なものも作られてます。

僕はどこに行けばいいのか分からないし

でも、とても強い何かを感じる

だってもう未練なんてないのだから
…とまぁ、ものすごく大雑把に訳すとこんな感じの内容を歌っていて、
これってまんまバーバラの心を歌った曲なんですよね。。
ラスマス・ウォルターはちょっとマイナーなアーティストではありますが、
切ない友情を歌った珠玉のロックバラードではないかと思います。
デル・マールのスコアだけでなく挿入歌もいい曲なので、
引き続きサントラ盤をよろしくお願い致します。
